Salome Moana (Schnyder) was born in Solothurn in 1994 and grew up in a small village near Lenzburg. Already as a small child she discovered her voice and acted as a radio for family and friends. She sang in a Catholic girl's choir, where she received early voice training. At the age of 9 she wanted to play the violin and pursued this passion intensively for 8 years. She played with the Lenzburg Regional Youth Orchestra, with whom she toured Switzerland, Austria and Hungary, and with the Biel Youth Symphony Orchestra. She loved to perform in school choirs, school bands and with her family at festivals. At the age of 11 she won a concert appearance with Patrick Nuo, Adrian Stern etc. at the "Kids and Stars"-Casting.


After graduating from high school in 2013, she completed her preliminary course at the Swiss Jazz School in Berne, among others with Virginia Beatrice and Stewy von Wattenwyl, to prepare for her jazz singing studies.


Since September 2014 she has been studying jazz singing with Ann Malcolm and Lisette Spinnler at the Jazzcampus Basel, Hochschule für Musik FHNW (majoring in Bachlor of Arts in Music). Other lecturers include Jorge Rossy,

Guillermo Klein and Larry Grenadier. She has attended master classes with Robert Glasper, Joshua Redman and the Bad Plus, Eric Harland, Alex Spiagin, Rebecca Martin, Theo Bleckmann, Julian Lage and Efrat Alony, among others.


In June 2017 she graduated with the Bachelor of Arts in Music and continued her education with the Master in Music Pedagogy at the Music Academy Basel, majoring with Efrat Alony at the University of Arts in Bern, in September 2017.

In March 2017 she participated as one of 6 winners at SOFIA (Support Of Female Improvising Artists) in Zurich. 





Committed to the Basel jazz scene, together with the Markthalle and fellow students, she has brought a "Young Jazz series" to life. The series started in February 2016 as a pilot project with regular jazz concerts by young jazz students in Room F of the Markthalle Basel.



Since mid-September 2017, the music education student has been teaching singing lessons at the Birsfelden Music School, BL. In addition, Salome sporadically teaches singing as a substitute teacher at the Biel Music School, Department of Jazz/Pop and Rock, as well as privately.
